Terms & Conditions
Effective July 26, 2026 | Version 2026-07-26.2
These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings, estimates, and detailing services provided by Autoklean. They exist so that both you and our technicians know exactly what is included, what is excluded, and what happens when a vehicle turns out to need more than what was booked. Please read them before you book.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
Autoklean ("Autoklean," "we," "us," or "our") provides mobile and drop-off auto detailing services within the San Francisco Bay Area, California. By submitting a booking request, accepting an estimate, or allowing us to begin work on your vehicle, you ("you," "your," or the "Customer") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.
If you are booking on behalf of another person or entity, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on their behalf and to authorize work on the vehicle presented.
2. Biohazards and Excluded Conditions
We do not perform biohazard, hazmat, or trauma-scene cleaning.
Autoklean is a cosmetic detailing company. We are not licensed, equipped, or insured for biological or hazardous remediation of any kind, and we will not accept such work at any price.
2.1 Excluded materials. We do not clean, remove, remediate, or otherwise handle vehicles containing any of the following:
- Blood or any other bodily fluid, including saliva, mucus, or seminal fluid;
- Vomit, urine, feces, or other human or animal waste;
- Used needles, syringes, sharps, or other medical waste;
- Illegal drugs, drug residue, or drug paraphernalia;
- Mold, mildew growth, or standing water resulting from flood or water intrusion;
- Sewage, septic backflow, or greywater contamination;
- Chemical spills, fuel spills, solvents, pesticides, asbestos, or other hazardous materials;
- Active or recent rodent, insect, or other pest infestation, including droppings, nesting material, or carcasses;
- Any vehicle that is the subject of a crime scene, death, or biohazard remediation claim.
2.2 Discovery during service. If any excluded material is discovered before or during service, our technician will stop work immediately and leave the vehicle in place. We will notify you, and the booking will be cancelled or re-quoted at our discretion. A trip and assessment fee of up to the value of the booked service may be charged for time already committed, and any cleaning already performed is billable.
2.3 Your obligation to disclose. You must tell us, in advance and in writing, if a vehicle contains or may contain any excluded material. Failure to disclose is a breach of these Terms and makes you responsible for any resulting cancellation fees, equipment decontamination or replacement costs, and lost appointment time.
3. Right to Refuse or Cancel Service
Autoklean reserves the right to refuse, postpone, stop, or cancel any job at our sole discretion, for any lawful reason, at any time — including after arrival and after work has begun. We will always tell you why.
Reasons we may refuse or cancel include, without limitation:
- Discovery of any biohazard or excluded condition described in Section 2;
- Unsafe, unsanitary, or hazardous working conditions at the service location;
- Abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or intoxicated behavior toward our technicians;
- No accessible electrical outlet, no legal or level parking, or no water access where the booked service requires it;
- Severe weather, poor air quality, or other conditions that make quality work or safe work impossible;
- A vehicle whose condition materially exceeds what was booked, where you decline the revised estimate;
- Mechanical, electrical, structural, or pre-existing damage that makes cleaning likely to cause further harm;
- A vehicle we reasonably believe to be stolen, unregistered, uninsured, or subject to a legal hold;
- Prior non-payment, chargebacks, or repeated no-shows by the same Customer or household.
Where we cancel for a reason that is not your fault — weather, our scheduling, or our equipment — you owe nothing and we will offer the next available appointment.
4. Estimates, Pricing, and Condition Assessment
Online prices are estimates, not final quotes.
Every price shown on our website or in our booking form is based only on the vehicle size and service package you selected. It is not a binding quote.
4.1 On-site assessment. The final price is confirmed after our technician physically assesses the vehicle. Conditions that commonly require an upcharge include heavy soiling, embedded pet hair, sand, smoke or biological odor, mold-adjacent moisture, spilled food or drink, construction dust, paint overspray, tree sap, tar, and general long-term neglect.
4.2 Approval before work. If a revised price is required, we will show you the condition, explain the additional work, and obtain your approval before starting. You may decline and cancel at no charge, other than any trip fee disclosed at the time of booking.
4.3 Add-on services. Add-on services are quoted individually based on severity and are never included in the estimate shown at booking. Selecting an add-on during booking is a request, not a fixed price.
4.4 Multi-vehicle bookings. Where more than one vehicle is booked in a single appointment, each vehicle is assessed and priced separately. Any multi-vehicle discount applies only when all vehicles are serviced at the same address in the same appointment.
5. Scheduling, Cancellations, and No-Shows
- Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Reply to your confirmation email or contact us directly.
- We hold your appointment for 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. After that, the appointment may be released.
- Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may require a deposit before we accept future bookings.
- Appointment times are start times. The estimated duration shown at booking is an estimate; actual time varies with vehicle condition.
- You do not need to be present for the entire service — only to hand over and receive the vehicle.
6. Mobile Service Requirements
For mobile appointments, you are responsible for providing, at your own cost and risk:
- A legal, safe, and reasonably level parking space with room to work around the entire vehicle;
- Access to a standard household electrical outlet (120V);
- Access to a water source where the booked service requires it;
- Any permission required from a property owner, landlord, employer, homeowners association, or parking authority.
Autoklean is not responsible for parking citations, towing, or fines issued at the service location, nor for any dispute with a property owner or association arising from the service. If conditions on arrival make safe work impossible, Section 3 applies.
7. Personal Property and Valuables
Please remove all personal property before your appointment — including cash, wallets, jewelry, electronics, chargers, sunglasses, garage remotes, documents, firearms, ammunition, medication, and anything of sentimental or irreplaceable value.
Autoklean is not responsible for loss of, damage to, or disposal of items left in the vehicle. Loose items found during service are placed in a bag and returned with the vehicle; we do not store, inventory, or ship personal property. Items that appear to be trash may be discarded as part of the service. We will never knowingly discard anything that appears to be of value.
8. Vehicle Condition and Limits of the Service
8.1 Pre-existing damage. Detailing frequently reveals damage that was previously hidden by dirt, wax, or grime. Autoklean is not responsible for pre-existing conditions, including scratches, swirl marks, dents, rock chips, paint defects, oxidation, clear-coat failure or peeling, previously repainted or resprayed panels, rust, water leaks, or non-factory modifications.
8.2 Aged and failing components. We are not responsible for the failure of components that were already brittle, worn, loose, or improperly installed — including cracked dashboards, sun-damaged trim, failing clips, loose emblems and badges, aftermarket accessories, worn or torn upholstery, degraded headliners, faulty window seals, and non-functioning electronics.
8.3 No guaranteed outcomes. Detailing is a cosmetic service, not restoration. We cannot guarantee removal of permanent stains, dye transfer, burns, tears, cracks, etched water spots, acid or chemical etching in paint or glass, or odors that have bonded into the headliner, foam, or HVAC system. Results vary with the age, material, and history of the vehicle.
8.4 Reporting damage. Any claim of damage caused by our service must be reported to us before the vehicle leaves our possession, or within 24 hours of completion for mobile service, with photographs. Claims reported after that window cannot be verified and will not be accepted.
9. Weather
Rain, extreme heat, freezing temperatures, high winds, or hazardous air quality may require us to reschedule a mobile appointment. We will contact you as early as we reasonably can, and rescheduling for weather is always free of charge. Drop-off service is generally unaffected.
10. Payment
- We accept cash and Zelle. Payment is due in full upon completion of the service.
- Any approved upcharge is added to the amount due at completion.
- You are responsible for any fee, cost, or loss arising from a failed, reversed, or fraudulent payment.
- We do not extend credit and do not invoice for later payment unless separately agreed in writing.
11. Satisfaction Window
If something about the service is not right, contact us within 48 hours of completion with photographs of the affected area. Where the concern falls within the scope of the service you booked, we will return and re-clean that area at no charge. This re-service is your exclusive remedy; we do not issue refunds after work is complete, and the satisfaction window does not extend to conditions excluded under Section 8.
12. Photography and Marketing
We photograph and video vehicles before, during, and after service for quality control and marketing. By booking, you grant Autoklean a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use those images to promote our business, including on our website and social media.
We obscure license plates and visible identifying details as a matter of practice, and we never publish your name, address, or contact information. You may opt out at any time, before or after service, by telling us in writing; we will remove the images from any channel we control.
13. Drop-Off Vehicles and Custody
- Keys are surrendered to Autoklean for the duration of the service and returned only to you or a person you have authorized in writing.
- We will agree an estimated pickup window with you at drop-off, and you agree to collect the vehicle within that window.
- If a vehicle is not collected as agreed, we will contact you to arrange collection. Extended storage is handled case by case and any charge will be agreed with you in advance.
- You warrant that the vehicle is legally operable, registered, and insured while in our custody.
14. Service Area
Autoklean serves the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Bookings submitted for addresses outside our service area may be cancelled, or accepted subject to a travel surcharge disclosed before the appointment. Entering an out-of-area address in the booking form does not by itself create an accepted booking.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Autoklean's total liability arising out of or relating to any service is limited to the amount you actually paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of use, loss of income, rental car costs, missed appointments, diminution in value, or towing charges.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
16. Aftercare
- Do not wash the vehicle for at least 24 hours after a sealant or ceramic application, so the product can fully cure.
- Avoid automatic tunnel and brush car washes entirely — they reintroduce the swirl marks we just removed.
- Allow interior surfaces, carpets, and upholstery to dry fully with windows cracked where possible, particularly after extraction or steam cleaning.
- Sealant and ceramic durability claims assume normal use and reasonable maintenance washing.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. The Terms that apply to your booking are the ones in effect at the time you booked, and we record the version you accepted with your booking. Continued use of our website or services after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
18. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or our services shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Mateo County, California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking resolution in small claims court where the claim qualifies.
